Music Video for a Pop Song is a video installation set to a manipulated version of Britney Spears’ breakout hit “Baby One More Time". The piece addresses the intersection of sexuality, gender, popular culture, beauty, and the grotesque. Music Video for a Pop Song depicts three simultaneous videos of heavily rouged lips. As the audio shifts from the genuine song to a slower version, the videos fall in and out of sync with the sound. As a result, the piece exists in a liminal space between connection and disconnection, beautiful and grotesque, masculine and feminine.
